Gender Equality
A separate document, the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) for the period 2026–2029, sets out the framework for promoting equal opportunities at the Biology Centre CAS. Equality and fairness are among the key priorities. BC has long adhered to the principles of equality in connection with the Czech Labour Code, the Code of Ethics of the CAS and the BC Code of Ethics. These principles include diversity, inclusion and equality. Gender equality indicators and the availability of data broken down by individual categories play an important role in the application of gender mainstreaming. Women and men at BC have equal rights and opportunities for self-determination in all aspects and stages of working life. BC supports mutual respect and recognition, as well as the free exchange of opinions, ideas and experience. As part of its day-to-day operation, BC treats all employees equally while taking into account all forms of diversity (social, national, ethnic, gender, sexual, religious, economic, educational, health-related or age-related). BC provides equal working conditions for all employees, from administrative and technical staff and early-stage researchers to experienced senior researchers. BC also supports work-life balance for its employees.
In the GEP 2026–2029, BC has identified 6 priority areas:
- data, monitoring, evaluation and equal pay;
- work-life balance, organisational culture and working conditions;
- equal opportunities in leadership, decision-making, committees and advisory bodies;
- recruitment, career development, mentoring and evaluation;
- a safe and respectful working environment;
- the gender dimension in research where relevant.
