Technology Transfer Office
Technology Transfer Office (hereinafter referred to as "TTO") strives for systematic and effective transfer of knowledge from scientific workplaces of the Biology Centre CAS (hereinafter "BC") into practice. The main priorities of BC are high-quality scientific research, increasing the level of knowledge and education, precisely by disseminating research results together with finding their application in economically and socially important areas.
TTO cooperates with the application sphere in the form of their direct involvement in research through joint projects or within the framework of contract research. The transfer of results into practice also takes place during expert, consulting and service activities, verification and licensing of given technologies, popularization, establishment of spin-offs and other forms of knowledge and technology transfer.

Projects
Support for Applied Research and Transfer of Research Results into Practice at the Biology Centre of the CAS
Project number: TQ11000026
Main beneficiary: Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS), v. v. i.
Principal investigator: Ing. Petr Maršík
Project duration: 01/09/2024 – 31/08/2028
The aim of the project: The project aims to strengthen the Technology Transfer Centre and to optimize the existing and established system of knowledge and technology transfer at the Biology Centre CAS (BC), while supporting applied research within the institution through sub-projects with commercial potential. The project aspires to expand the connection between BC and the industrial sector, reinforce commercialization activities at BC, attract companies to become engaged in the early stages of applied research, involve the newly restructured Commercialization Board more actively in supervising sub-projects, increase the motivation of BC researchers to collaborate effectively with the application sphere, establish new partnerships with the application sector, and strengthen existing collaborations.
At the same time, we seek to fully leverage the experience from the GAMA 2 programme to improve the practical application of research results, to optimize the structure of the commercialization system at BC, and to deepen awareness of intellectual property protection, commercialization, and research impact among BC researchers.
The main goal is to support the application of research results in new or improved products and services on the market and to increase BC’s impact at both the regional and national levels. Specifically, the project will focus on identifying and supporting those research results that meet pre-defined criteria for verifiability of application, financial return on supported sub-projects, and future practical use with potential for licensing or spin-off creation.
This project has been financed with the state support of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic within the Sigma Programme.
