Molecular mechanisms driving cellular differentiation of Trypanosoma brucei

The research articles describe changes in mitochondrial metabolism and mitochondrial gene expression that underline cellular differentiation of Trypanosoma brucei, and resemble remodeling during carcinogenesis or T-lymphocytes maturation. Our results define cellular processes underpinning the trypanosome differentiation and postulate molecular mechanisms that might be driving cellular differentiation not only in these parasites.

Differentiation of Trypanosoma brucei at the metabolic level.

Detailed map of remarkable metabolic rewiring during the developmental progression of Trypanosoma brucei.
