Inaugural meeting of the Czech Society for Stable Isotopes

Save the Dates: Nov 11-13th, 2020. The inaugural ČSSI 2020 workshop aims (i) to develop communication between stable isotope researchers [in the natural sciences] from Czechia and surrounding countries and (ii) to foster art-science collaborations that will deliver customized graphic designs for public outreach and education. The latter goal will capitalize on the independent talents of artists and scientists to remove barriers in transferring knowledge, specifically via presentation of these posters during the opening ceremony of the workshop (Nov. 11, 2020). This unique component will enable scientists, artists, and the general public to explore the inherent connection between art and science, and to grasp how the latest discoveries by isotope researchers in Czechia and the surrounding countries inform human activity and environmental processes.

Call for Abstracts

Deadline for Art/Science collaborative INFOGRAPHIC abstracts: September 15, 2020

Researchers who are interested to participate in the art/science collaboration should submit infographci abstracts describing their over-arching research question(s) and their stable isotope approach to make new discoveries. Infographic abstracts should focus on scientific concepts, framing of the research question, and discoveries as opposed to explicitly reporting data. The abstracts will be first evaluated for scientific merit and relevance and then presented to a panel of artists who will select winning, inspiring abstracts for development of customized, educational, infographic designs. In short, the role of the scientist will be to suggest a theme, theory, and rationale, which artist will conceptualize into a graphical narrative to inform the public.

Deadline for scientific presentations: October 7, 2020
