HR Excellence in Science

National providers

The most important national providers include the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic (GAČR) and the Technology Agency (TAČR).

GAČR supports basic research in a purpose-built manner, exclusively from public funds. It is the only institution of this type and with this mission in the Czech Republic. In its activities, it is governed by Act No. 130/2002 Coll., on the support of research, experimental development and innovation. It has been managing funds allocated from the state budget since 1993.

In 2025, scientists from the Biology Center of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic will carry out basic research as investigators or co-investigators with the support of a total of 97 grants. Of these, 75 are standard projects, 3 EXPRO projects, 5 Junior Star projects, 2 PIF OUT projects, 9 LA projects and 3 International projects.

TAČR was established in 2009 by Act No. 130/2002 Coll. on the support of research, experimental development and innovation. It centralizes state support for applied research and development.

In 2025, the following projects supported by TA CR are underway at BC:
