Tick-borne diseases are the most wide.spread vector-borne diseases of the Northern Hemisphere. Our group studies molecular and cellular factors involved in the mechanism of pathogen transmission by ticks as well as the ecoepidemiological features of the pathogens regarding theire genetic variability and distribution patterns. Lyme borreliosis spirochetes and tick-borne encephalitis virus, are the main focus of our research concerning (mainly protein-carbohydrate) interactions with the inner environment of the tick Ixodes ricinus, tick and mammalian cell lines.
