BC International Advisory Board second meeting

The International Advisory Board of the Biology Centre CAS, composed of 11 experts from various scientific disciplines from top universities and scientific institutions from all over Europe, meets on Thursday and Friday, June 24 and 25, at the Biology Centre. This is the second meeting of this advisory body. The main goal is to evaluate the institution´s proceeding in developing the Board's suggestions in strategic direction, planning and taking actions. Due to the epidemiological situation, the Board meeting is happening in a hybrid form, ie partly in person and partly online.

The International Advisory Board is a parallel advisory body to the Biology Centre (BC), which complements and strengthens the functioning of the BC Statutory Councils. The purpose and goal of this advisory board is to provide non-binding strategic advice to the management of the institution. The informal nature of this Board allows greater flexibility in structure and management, while the international composition of the board provides quality feedback with an international dimension.

At their first meeting in May 2019, the members of the Board got acquainted in detail with the functioning of the institution. As a result they developed a SWOT analysis as a set of recommendations and suggestions for more effective management and direction of the institute. During the second meeting they are assessing how these recommendations are being met.

The meeting is funded by the IBERA project "Integration of the Biology Centre CAS into the European Research Area", CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/16_028/0006247.
